The heritage-listed Cape Bruny Lighthouse is one of the only lighthouses in Tasmania open for guided tours. This historic lighthouse was built in 1836 and stands 114 metres tall above the dramatic cliffs and coves that make up the rugged coastline of Cape Bruny.

Climb the original wrought iron spiral staircase to reach the top of the tower and step out onto the balcony for breathtaking views over the Southern Ocean and Tasman Sea.

Cape Bruny Lighthouse Tour

Cost: $25 per person (self-drive to Cape Bruny)

Step inside the most iconic landmark on Bruny Island for a look into the past on the southernmost lighthouse tour in Australia.

Minimum age: 5 years old and above

Due to safety regulations, children under the age of 5 are not permitted in the lighthouse. 

Tour Times:

Tours operate daily all year round. Please arrive at least 15 minutes before your tour; the walk from the car park to the Lighthouse is approximately 10 minutes.

9:30am*, 10am, 10:30am, 11am, 11:30am, 1:30pm,  2pm,  2:30pm, 3pm, 3:30pm*, 4pm*
*Tours only available 1st Oct – 31st March

The Lighthouse is closed on Christmas Day
Cash and credit cards are accepted at the Lighthouse for non-booked tours; availability is not guaranteed unless pre-booked.

Cape Bruny Sunset Lighthouse Tour

$80 per person, bookings essential (self-drive to Bruny Island)

Experience the sunset like never before, from the top of a heritage-listed Lighthouse. Sitting high above the rugged coastline of South Bruny, Cape Bruny Lighthouse is the perfect place to watch the sun go down. See where the sea meets the sky as our local Bruny Island tour guide shares the rich maritime history and life as a lighthouse keeper with you.

Groups are limited to a maximum of 10, and bookings are essential. Guests must be staying overnight on Bruny Island to join the Sunset Lighthouse Tour. Please contact us for special occasions such as engagements or private tour bookings.
